Stenciling For All Occasions

Hi and welcome back to my crafty place. I have two very different cards to share with you featuring the Brutus Monroe, September Stencil of the Month. I love the versatility of stencils because with the change of color, or medium you have a completely different project.

Do you see what I mean? The first card is a bright and cheerful card for a crafty friend and the second, a fall inspired card.

The first card features the Stencil of the Month as the focal point, with a Simple Strip sentiment. I blended Simon Hurely inks in the colors, Tropical Tango, Rosy Cheeks, and Triple Berry at an angle on the card panel. From there, I used 1/4 inch strips to make the basic design. Putting the Crafty Simple Strip sentiment straight on the panel, really made it pop, but doesn’t take away from the overall effect of the card.

Let’s take a look at the second card now…

In this card, the stencil is the background and accents the focal image, which by the way is a sneak peak into the September Inspiration Box! I stamped and masked the leaf images from the inspiration box in order to stack them on top of each other. They were stamped with Raven Detail ink as it is alcohol marker safe, and then colored the images. Now comes the stenciling, I used Simon Hurley inks in the colors of Minty Fresh, and Over the Moon, but I applied them lightly and sporadically through the stencil, keeping it subtly in the background.

I hope this inspires you to break out your stencils and get inky, as you can stencil for all occasions. For more inspiration from our team check out our Brutus Monroe Fan Club and social media! I hope this inspires you to make something crafty today!

  1. Hi Joy, two fabulous cards, love the bright colours on the crafty friend card and the Autumn card looks stunning with the soft pattern behind the leaves… our cherry blossoms are getting ready to pop! Have a wonderful week… Megan

  2. Joy, both of your cards are gorgeous! I do prefer the autumn card, well, just because autumn is my favorite time of year for crafting! Beautiful backgrounds on both of these and so perfect for our Staying in the Background challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog.

  5. Very pretty and love how the ink colors look so different on the two cards. The leaf/autumn card is very pretty, I am anxious for our colors to change here in southern MO. Thanks for entering our challenge at The House that Stamps Built.
